PEOPLE, PURPOSE & PLACE
We believe learning should make the world betterWe're a for-profit business but profit isn't the only thing that matters to us. We care deeply about how we show up in the world, who we work with, and the kind of business we're building. We might not have the budget or size of the big end of town, but we do what we can, where we can, with thought and intention. This policy is our way of keeping that promise.1. We create culture, not just contentOur workplace culture is grounded in flexibility, kindness, and a very human understanding of…well, being human. We're big believers in working hard and making space for rest, family, health, and life outside the inbox.Real-life flavour:Flexible hours and remote work? Absolutely.Parents on the team? Plenty. School runs are sacred.Inclusive team traditions like shared lunches, supportive check-ins, and a “no big egos” vibe.Accessibility and inclusion baked into everything we design. We create learning people lean into — because we practise what we teach.2. We hire for brains, not backgroundsWe build teams with people who think differently, come from all walks of life, and bring something unique to the table. We welcome:LGBTQIA+ communitiesFirst Nations peoplesPeople with disabilityNeurodivergent thinkersReturn-to-work parents and career changersPeople from culturally and linguistically diverse backgroundsReal-life flavour: Our team is full of sharp minds and real-life jugglers. We design flexibility into roles so people can do their best work on their terms.3. We give back (with brains, not just bucks)We can't fix the world but we can give back in the way we know best: by doing what we're good at, for the people and causes who need it.Each year, we donate a minimum of 20 labour days to pro bono work that makes a difference. We choose organisations that are seeking to do good where our contribution goes a long way.Real-life flavour:Instructional design for Health Volunteers International (HVI) to improve health outcomes in lower-income countries by increasing access to safe anaesthesia.Learning strategy and instructional design support for Women Up North to produce an eLearning course on Enhancing Workforce Responses to Sexual Violence Training.Instructional design for The Kids Institute Inklings Program, supporting early childhood development through early intervention.Learning design for Neurospicy Collective, celebrating neurodiversity. These projects feed our purpose and sharpen our practice and we're proud to make time for them.4. We work with purposeWe don't have a corporate social responsibility division but we do have values, and we live them out in the decisions we make.Real-life flavour:End-of-year celebrations hosted at social enterprises, employing refugees and asylum seekers.Where we can, we give preference to suppliers who are local, ethical, women-led, Indigenous-owned, or socially driven.Big or small, we choose partners who care about people as much as we do.We believe business can do good — without being huge or flashy. Just thoughtful, consistent, and human.Final word? We're not trying to be perfect. We're just trying to do things differently — with more care, more heart, and more impact. We lead with people. We work with purpose. And we're proud to be the kind of business that gives a damn.
